Zwischen 1974 und 1984 verlegte Gibson seine Produktion aus Kalamazoo nach Nashville, Tennessee. Der größte Teil dieser Verlagerung, insbesondere die Produktion alle E-Gitarren, erfolgte 1974.
In den Folgejahren versuchte Gibson neue Modelle zu kreieren und unterschiedliche Logos auszuprobieren. Der Name Gibson wurde mal mit mal ohne i-Punkt geschrieben, das O war teilweise oben offen …..
Die hierbei entstandenen Instrumente wurden nicht etwa in der Ausstellung behalten, sondern tatsächlich verkauft. Deshalb gibt es zwischen 1975 und 1980 ein paar wenige Modelle auf dem Markt, die keine reguläre Seriennummer aufweisen, sondern als Prototypen mit ein- bis zweistelligen Nummern gekennzeichnet sind.
Detlef Alder, der frühere Mastermind von Guitarpoint Maintal, hat bei seinen ständigen Suchen in den USA deshalb nicht lange gezögert, diesen Schatz erworben und hier in Deutschland angeboten. Der erste Käufer war ein guter Freund von mir, Profigitarrist und Soundfetischist. Die hier angebotene Gitarre ist deshalb zuerst auch kein Sammlerstück, sondern ein absoluter Player, mit einem fantastischem Sound.
Später kam die Gitarre zu einem Kunden von mir. Dieser reduziert nun altersbedingt seinen Bestand.
Die ES-350 T ist eine Hollowbody mit schmalem Korpus (Thinline) und Cutaway.
Sie kam 1955 auf den Markt und wurde mit Unterbrechungen bis 1981 gebaut.
Einer der prominentesten ES-350 Spieler war wohl Chuck Berry.
Die 350T war eine etwas preisgünstigere Neuauflage der Byrdland und hat deshalb auch das Byrdland-Tailpiece.
Das hier angebotene Instrument weist als Prototyp folgende, für Gibson 350T, „ungewöhnliche“ Eigenheiten auf:
- Scale/Mensur: 25,5“ bzw. 648 mm (wie bei einer Strat)
zum Vergleich: die Byrdland hatte eine Mensur von 23.5“ / 597mm - Frets/Bünde: 22
- Neck Wood: 3-piece Curly Maple
- Gibson Logo ohne i-Punkt
- Wie bei Protoypen nicht anders zu erwarten, mußte nach der Einpassung des neuen Halses nachlackiert werden. Das sieht man allerdings nur im Schwarzlicht!
Der Zustand ist altersgerecht, mit vielen Lack-Crackles. Die Gitarre klingt vom ersten Moment an. Sie ist kein Museumsstück, das nicht mehr schwingt. Sie wurde gespielt und muss nicht erst wieder zum Leben erweckt werden

Between 1974 and 1984, Gibson moved its production from Kalamazoo to Nashville, Tennessee. Most of this relocation, especially the production of all electric guitars, took place in 1974.
In the years that followed, Gibson tried to create new models and try out different logos. The name Gibson was sometimes written with and sometimes without the i-dot, the O was sometimes open at the top …..
The resulting instruments were not kept in the showroom, but were actually sold. This is why there are a few models on the market between 1975 and 1980 that do not have a regular serial number, but are labeled as prototypes with one to two-digit numbers.
Detlef Alder, the former mastermind of Guitarpoint Maintal, therefore did not hesitate for long during his constant searches in the USA, acquired this treasure and offered it for sale here in Germany. The first buyer was a good friend of mine, a professional guitarist and sound fetishist. The guitar offered here is therefore not a collector’s item at first, but an absolute player with a fantastic sound.
The guitar later came to a customer of mine. He is now downsizing due to his age.
The ES-350 T is a hollowbody with a narrow body (thinline) and cutaway.
It came onto the market in 1955 and was built with interruptions until 1981.
One of the most prominent ES-350 players was probably Chuck Berry.
The 350T was a slightly cheaper reissue of the Byrdland and therefore also has the Byrd-land tailpiece.
As a prototype, this instrument offered here has the following “unusual” features for a Gibson 350T:
- Scale/Mensur: 25.5” or 648 mm (like a Strat)
for comparison: the Byrdland had a scale length of 23.5” / 597mm - Frets: 22
- Neck wood: 3-piece curly maple
- As is to be expected with prototypes, it had to be repainted after the new neck was fitted. However, this can only be seen in black light!
The condition is age-appropriate, with many lacquer cracks. The guitar sounds great right from the start. It is not a museum piece that no longer vibrates. It has been played and does not need to be brought back to life
