One of the most interesting guitars currently on the market. A Gretsch-style archtop with TV Jones pickups and Bigsby tremolo. The Varnish finish – a coloured, unpolished shellac – makes the tone warmer and takes some of the edge off the TV Jones. The tone remains distinctive, but becomes more pleasant.

Vintage tone with superior midrange and volume. Finished in a violin varnish (*) with a unique aging process, these instruments feel and play like old, well cared for vintage guitars. This T58/V features a solid handcarved spruce top with laminated flame maple back and sides, maple bindings, Classic Vene-tian cutaway, dual TV Jones Classic Cplus (Filtertrons) pickups, aged hardware and Bigsby.

(*) Die Varnish – Vergütung der Antique Series wird nicht – wie beiden den anderen Modellen – durch Sprayen aufgebracht – sondern mit feinen Pinseln. Durch die Borsten entsteht so eine lineare Struktur. Die Oberfläche wird auch nicht poliert und behält dadurch eine leichte Trübung. Mittlerweile hat Eastman es auch geschafft, diesen Lack so hart zu machen, dass er physikalisch der Nitrolackierung der anderen Modell ebenbürtig ist. (Harte Lacke geben eine besseren Ton). Die leichte Rissbildung (Crack-ling) ist gewollt und wird gezielt durch leichte Schläge erzeugt. Alles in allem eine wunderschöne „Vin-tage“-Anmutung.
(*) The Varnish lacquering of the antique series is not applied by spraying but by fine brushes. The bris-tles makes a nice linear texture. Even the surface is not polished. So it keeps a natural light haze. The new varnish lacquering is as hard as the nitro finish of the other modells – which makes a good tone. The crackling is intended and brings a wonderful vintage impression.
